Two Fish, One Line

When I was about 23, dad and I went fishing up at Mineral Lake. Anyone who ever fished with my dad knows, you gotta get on the lake real early if you want to catch the good ones. Around sunrise we launched the boat and started trolling the perimeter. We weren't having much luck and I thought it had taken a turn for the worst when my line got stuck. My dad put the boat in reverse as I tried to reel in my line. The snag broke loose and I reeled in as he started trolling again. As my line got closer to the boat, I realized I had a fish on. He stopped the motor and prepared the net but neither of us were prepared for what happened next. As my dad netted the fish, we realized that I had caught two fish! Yes, seriously, two fish! The way we figured, I snagged another fisher's broken line and caught a fish on both! I was so excited, hooting and hollering and jumping around! Meanwhile the second fish on my line was flopping around practically slapping my dad in the face. As usual, he stayed calm and took care of the fish for me. He was the only witness to this unbelievable fish tale. I always joked about getting him to sign an affidavit verifying the truth of my story. We never got around to officially documenting this amazing feat but I'll keep telling it. Someday I'll be the crazy old lady mumbling about catching two fish... With so much love there aren't words to describe, I miss you dad.
