I knew Stan through his time hunting, fishing and playing poker with my husband and his brother Dan Hodge and friend Gene Rutt. After my husband passed away I di way to much drinking in our local bars. I used to call Dan or Gene and have them come to the bar with me. While there one evening Gene met up with Stan. Gene was tired and had to work the next day. Asking Stan to be sure I got home safe he left. That was the beginning. Years later Gene told Stan you were suppose to watch out for her NOT marry her. Stan's reply was simple "I married her to protect her." May 4, 1979 we were married in Coeur d' Alene, ID. We were married for 27 years. Raised 5 children together.
