In 1982, while making Christmas gifts he cut his ring finger off. I mean OFF, like IN HALF, OFF. He came in the house and asked me to call Grandma Phillips and said he'd cut his finger. I'm all of 9 at this point. I was scared but insisted on seeing it and when he held it up, hanging by a tiny piece of streched skin, I ran off! So this is now the 3rd finger he's severed. Look at the ring finger on Mandy's shoulder. Yep, that's the one. In 1983 he broke his ankle and was in a cast. He put plastic bags over it to go hunting. He returned to work after 12 weeks only to fall and break the other ankle. 12 more weeks in a cast. Come to think of it, this is probably the only time he wasn't working.
